Spark on Kubernetes – Challenges in Storage & Compute layers
Apache Spark unifies batch processing, real-time processing, stream analytics, machine learning, and interactive query in one-platform. Kubernetes provides Apache Spark a simplified way to manage infrastructure and applications. Spark on K8s is a popular choice at this point time. However there are challenges in Scheduling, Performance, Storage areas. As we look more into Storage, a unified way to access storage is critical for Spark job deployments when a growing demand of multi or hybrid cloud deployments are looked upon. In this talk, we are looking into SODA storage layer to act as an adapter in b/w k8s containers and different storage (on-prem or cloud).
